RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF HUMBOLDT
WHEREAS, Estelle Fennell began her career with KMUD Radio in 1987, when she volunteered to do a music program for the station; and
WHEREAS, during the Southern Humboldt fires of September, 2003, Estelle received not only the admiration of the community but that of the agencies working to suppress the fires; and
WHEREAS, in her drive to provide accurate and beneficial information, Estelle put herself in the trenches of the fires; up with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in helicopters, in the woods with more than 2,000 fire fighters, calling in timely and precise updates that the community and fire fighters came to depend on; and
WHEREAS, Estelle's relay of information, from the public to the agencies fighting the fires and from the agencies to the public, was a tremendous resource for providing safety to the Southern Humboldt community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors hereby commends and thanks
ESTELLE FENNELL
for her role in providing up-to-the-minute information to the community and the agencies involved in the Southern Humboldt Fires of September 2003 and for her commitment to the news and citizens of Humboldt County.
